Product manager Interview experience at Media.net

The complete interview would last for 3-4 rounds of ~ 1 hour each. After round 1 and 2 policy is to give a pass, borderline pass, or reject decision. After round 3 onwards it is a strict pass or reject policy.

Round 1 - Interview with the PM
Round 2 - Interview with PM II
Round 3 - Interview with Group PM
Round 4 - Director of VP

Round 1

Questions will be asked to evaluate the candidate's web technology skills, a basic algorithm or puzzle as an aptitude test, analytical questions like guesstimates or root cause analysis. It also has an introduction round where questions about your past work background can be asked. This round could be with an APM/PM-I based on the position for which the candidate is interviewing.

Example Questions:

  1. What happens when I type www.media.net in my browser? Given a list of 0s and 1s randomly distributed, how can you sort this list? What if I had 0, 1 and 2?
  2. How many UPI transactions would be happening in a month?
  3. Netflix observing a drop in average revenue per user. Why would that be?

Round 2

In this round, expect more questions on strategy, analytics, and product design. Since there are multiple questions of different nature, each of them are brief and the
candidate is expected to answer them in ~15 minutes. This round would be with a PM-I/PM-II. How would UrbanClap cope with covid19 situation? Design a dashboard
for covid19 tracking and prevention. Design a smart alarm clock.

Round 3

This round will have one common product design question which will be discussed in detail. It could be something on the lines of: given a new product/business idea,
defining the features in the product, business model, the go-to-market and pricing strategy, etc. Discussion can last for about 50-55 minutes about the same problem
statement. This round is typically taken by a Senior PM/Group PM. Imagine a subscription based phone buying model? How would that work out?

Round 4

This should be the final round and typically is with a Director or VP. Questions should be heavily on product design and strategy.
