Product Manager Interview at Myntra

Round 1 Interview type: Problem Solving/Business.
Round 2 Interview type: Product Design.
Round 3 With VP, Products
Round 4 With the HR Head

Round 1

Interview type: Root cause analysis

Question: You’re the PM for Amazon Prime. The number of subscriptions are falling - 30% since a month. How would you go about it?

How to approach this:

  1. Start with scoping to figure out the root cause and break down of 30%. Enquire about any macro level changes and focus on user journey
  2. Here I segmented into prime music and e-commerce (free shipping, early shipping)
  3. I then focused on delivery time for e-commerce. Go with the user journey steps (think funnel from user getting acquired to step by step making a transaction and
conversions). As you approach it, ask the interviewer and they will guide/narrow down the case narrative.

Further, watch a video on solving these type of questions here.

Round 2

Interview type: Product Design.

Question: If you had to launch custom made-to-order products, how would you go about it?

How to approach this:

  1. Identify the needs -  define the users and motivations
  2. Think from a User journey PoV all steps in the user's funnel
  3. Features - Always keep a balance of short-term and long-term, hygiene and wow features
  4. What are the 3 major things you'd take care of? Then mention three issues you foresee
  5. Guesstimate for market sizing - had segmented into occasion wear, size issues etc. I did the market sizing for occasion wear, further narrowed to bridal wear  i.e
number of possible brides. Apart from this some general question(s) and some resume question(s). How can you attribute conversions? If you do some improvements, how will you attribute it to that? Also, got a follow-up question on SEO here

Round 3

With VP, Products, this round was a generic discussion around culture fit than hard skills focussed. About me, interests, fav product etc.

Round 4

With the HR Head, I got a bunch of behavioural questions, many on stakeholder management - difficult clients etc.

The first two rounds were product focused, the last two were majorly behavioural questions.

We have 2 mentors from Myntra teaching PM School students as part of the PM School program.
